Ukraine and Germany have signed a series of energy agreements with a total portfolio value of more than EUR 155 million.

The agreements provide for cooperation on restoring and modernizing the energy system, speeding up the delivery of critical electrical equipment, developing generation capacity, and modernizing underground gas storage facilities. They were signed following the Ukrainian-German Business Forum, in the presence of President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Federal Chancellor of Germany Friedrich Merz.

"We are grateful to the German business community for its proactive stance and readiness to deepen the partnership aimed at modernizing Ukraine’s energy sector and strengthening our shared energy security," said First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine – Minister of Energy Denys Shmyhal.

The Ministry of Energy of Ukraine and Germany’s Siemens Energy will collaborate on the repairs, modernization, and strengthening of resilience of Ukraine’s energy system. In particular, we are exploring the possibility of using 12 Siemens Energy gas turbine units for distributed generation needs.

NPC Ukrenergo and two German grid operators - 50Hertz and Amprion - have agreed to cooperate to accelerate Ukraine’s acquisition of critical electrical equipment. We will leverage our partners' capabilities to identify manufacturing capacity and coordinate efforts to secure the earliest available production slots from international manufacturers of transformers, cables, switchgear, and other essential equipment.

Naftogaz and Siemens Energy will cooperate in three areas: energy security and infrastructure protection, modernization of underground gas storage facilities, and technical cooperation in electricity generation. The companies are working on a project to supply five gas turbine compressor units and are exploring the possibility of introduction of generation solutions based on Siemens Energy technologies and automated control systems.
