Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal held talks with President of the Czech Republic Petr Pavel and President of the Slovak Republic Zuzana Čaputová. The parties discussed a wide range of issues of economic and military cooperation.
"Thank you for your support and solidarity with Ukraine and for this symbolic visit to Kyiv. Slovakia and the Czech Republic are reliable partners of Ukraine in the international arena. We appreciate this extremely much. I am also grateful for the support of our Euro-Atlantic course, for military support and support with sanctions. Thank you for your financial assistance and for providing shelter for our refugees," said Denys Shmyhal.
The Head of Government called for tougher sanctions against russia. In particular, he stressed the importance of including sanctions against the russian nuclear industry in the 11th EU sanctions package. The Prime Minister also expressed Ukraine's readiness to help diversify Europe's nuclear energy sector. In his opinion, European countries should get rid of their dependence on russian nuclear fuel and technologies as soon as possible.
The partners addressed prospects for deepening military cooperation. In particular, the possibility of training Ukrainian military personnel and repairing equipment in Slovakia and the Czech Republic.
The Prime Minister of Ukraine thanked the Czech Republic for its solidarity in the rapid recovery, in particular for its supervision of partner regions.
"The appointment by the Czech Republic of a special representative for the restoration of Ukraine is particularly important. We are counting on the same decision from Slovakia, as it will improve our cooperation in reconstruction," said Denys Shmyhal.
The participants of the meeting also raised the issue of establishing a Special International Tribunal to bring russia's top political leadership to justice.
For their part, Petr Pavel and Zuzana Čaputová stressed the importance of holding russia accountable for war crimes and reaffirmed their full support for Ukraine.
