On May 5, the National Youth Forum "Democracy and me" took place within the framework of the European Youth Week.
The forum was held with the support of the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Ukraine, American Councils for International Education, the National Erasmus + Office in Ukraine and NGO "Ukrainian Alliance".
The attendees were more than 100 young people from all over the country, as well as representatives of Erasmus + in Ukraine, the American Councils, the Ukrainian Leadership Academy, the Eastern Partnership Civil Society Forum, NGO "Ukrainian Alliance", the Transparent Cities Project implemented by Transparency International Ukraine, the Ukrainian Volunteer Service, and etc.
Hugues Mingarelli, EU Ambassador to Ukraine welcomed the participants and emphasized the importance of implementing democratic processes in Ukraine.
Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports Oleksandr Yarema noted that a conscious and well-informed young generation of Ukrainians is the core of a strong state: "Youth is our present. That is why it is important to tell young people how they can influence decision-making process aimed to solve burning issues and involve democracy in all its aspects. This enable young people to better understand their role in the process of state-building. And to have responsible attitude to rights and obligations ".
The representatives of the American Councils for International Education stressed that they are pleased to support and be engaged in the National Youth Forum "Democracy and me" which was held within the framework of the European Youth Week and organized by the team of the Ministry of Youth and Sports.
The experts of the National Erasmus + Office in Ukraine briefed attendees on the structure of the EU Program Erasmus + and grant opportunities for training, practice, exchanges, internships and other opportunities for cooperation for youth and youth organizations in general. Special attention was paid to opportunities for young people, providing clear guidance and step-by-step instructions on how to win a grant, to prepare a qualitative document package and to kick off acquaintance with Europe.
