Situation in energy system on 7 December

Ministry of Energy of Ukraine, posted 07 December 2023 11:54

Power supply restrictions not applied in any region, outages due to hostilities or technical reasons

Power generation and consumption

The situation in the power system is stable and under control. Due to a decrease in temperature and a corresponding increase in consumption, a slight shortage of electricity is observed (1.2% of daily consumption), which is covered by emergency imports of electricity from neighbouring countries, which is one of the tools to cover the growth in consumption and balance the power system.

As of today, 1 TPP unit, which was undergoing short-term repairs, has been restored to operation. At the same time, 2 TPP units have undergone short-term emergency repairs and are expected to be back online within 24 hours.

There are no electricity consumption restrictions in any of the regions, and all outages are related to hostilities or technical reasons.

Consequences of shelling

The hostilities caused a power outage at 110 kV overhead lines in Donetsk region. A settlement and a coal mine are without power. Currently, 35 workers who were trapped in the mine are being brought to the surface.

Situation at the ZNPP

The water level in the cooling pond is 15.68 metres. This is sufficient to meet the plant’s needs.

Import/export

Electricity imports amounted to 480 MWh. There were no exports.
