  • Situation in the power system as of May 29: power system operates with a reserve, with no electricity shortage
Ministry of Energy of Ukraine, posted 29 May 2023 11:30

At night, the enemy launched another massive missile and drone strike across the country. No damage to energy infrastructure was recorded.

At the same time, the enemy continues to terrorise the frontline and border areas with russia. As a result of the shelling, 19 settlements in Donetsk region and 27 settlements in Zaporizhzhia region were cut off from electricity.

Some consumers in Sumy, Zaporizhzhya, Kharkiv, Kherson and Chernihiv regions are also without power due to previous shelling.

Repair crews are working where the security situation allows.

Over the past day, the energy workers have managed to restore power to almost 29,000 consumers. Most of them are customers in Donetsk and Zaporizhzhya regions.

A large-scale repair campaign of generation facilities and grids is underway to prepare for the new heating season.

Nuclear, thermal and hydroelectric power units are under repair. Meanwhile, the electricity generated is sufficient to meet the needs of consumers.

During the daytime (from 10:45 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.), restrictions on renewable energy sources were applied to balance the power system, as generation exceeded consumption.

Commercial electricity imports totalled 3.7 million kWh over the past day. Electricity was also exported to Poland in the amount of 0.8 million kWh yesterday.

Regarding the situation in the gas sector.

The volume of gas in Ukrainian underground storage facilities increased by 27.1 million cubic metres over the day. The blue fuel reserves amount to more than 9.4 billion cubic metres.
