Situation in energy system on 26 July: enemy attacks power transmission facilities in Zhytomyr and Chernihiv regions; restrictions on consumers in place

Ministry of Energy of Ukraine, posted 26 July 2024 11:01

POWER GENERATION, TRANSMISSION, CONSUMPTION

As of today, hourly outage schedules are planned to be applied from 07:00 to 24:00. For information about changes in the schedules, please visit the official websites of the regional power distribution companies in your regions.

There will be no blackouts for critical infrastructure companies and companies that import more than 80% of electricity for their needs in accordance with the government decree.

There is still a significant capacity shortage in the power system. As a result of massive hostile attacks on the energy sector, 9 GW of production capacity was lost. There is constant shelling, especially in the frontline and border areas. Substations and power transmission lines are often targeted. As a result of missile and drone strikes, there are restrictions on the transmission of available electricity.

We urge Ukrainians to continue to consume electricity sparingly.

CONSEQUENCES OF THE SHELLING

In Chernihiv region, a UAV attack on a substation damaged equipment and started a fire, which was later extinguished.

In Zhytomyr region, a UAV attack on a substation disconnected equipment and several overhead lines, which led to a power outage for residential and industrial consumers. All consumers have been supplied with electricity.

STATE OF THE GRID

In the central region, equipment at a high-voltage substation was disconnected due to technological disruptions. The equipment is back online. Consumers were not disconnected.

In Kyiv region, a high-voltage overhead line was disconnected due to technological disruptions. Several substations and household consumers in Kyiv and Cherkasy regions lost power. All consumers were supplied with power via a backup scheme.

In Khmelnytskyi region, a high-voltage overhead line was disconnected, which led to a power outage at a substation, household consumers, and the railway (no train traffic disruptions). All consumers were supplied with power via a backup scheme.

In Dnipropetrovsk region, a high-voltage overhead line was disconnected due to a technological malfunction. As a result, the substation, household consumers and local industry lost power. Consumers were supplied with power using the backup scheme.

POWER OUTAGES FOR CONSUMERS

In the morning, 3 settlements in Odesa region lost power due to bad weather.

Power engineers supplied power to 753 consumers who were cut off as a result of hostilities.

In total, 473 settlements remain without power due to hostilities and technical violations.

SITUATION AT ZNPP

The water level in the cooling pond is 14.84 metres. This is enough to meet the plant’s needs.

EXPORT

There are no exports and no exports are planned.
