GENERATION, TRANSMISSION, CONSUMPTION
The situation in the energy sector remains challenging. There is a significant shortage of generating capacity in the system due to massive hostile attacks since spring this year, with shelling continuing, especially in the frontline areas. Substations and power transmission lines often come under fire. Ukraine is also experiencing an abnormal heat wave. This complicates the situation. Over the past 24 hours, Ukraine has additionally received emergency assistance from Poland to partially cover the deficit.
No power cuts are planned for critical infrastructure companies and companies that import more than 80% of their electricity needs in accordance with a government decree.
The main reason for the electricity supply restrictions is the enemy’s attacks on the energy infrastructure and the negative consequences of these attacks.
CONSEQUENCES OF SHELLING
In Dnipropetrovsk region, an overhead line was disconnected at a substation as a result of hostilities. The substation and household consumers lost power. All consumers were supplied with power via a backup scheme.
Also in Dnipropetrovsk region, hostilities damaged a high-voltage overhead line, which led to a blackout at several substations and local industries. All of them have been reconnected.
In Chernihiv region, shelling simultaneously cut power to 520 consumers in 9 settlements.
EMERGENCIES
A fire broke out in a mine in Donetsk region as a result of hostile shelling. There were 24 workers in the mine at the time of the accident. They were brought to the surface. The fire has been extinguished.
STATE OF THE GRID
In the southern region, a fire broke out at a substation due to equipment damage. A high-voltage overhead line was disconnected. The fire has been extinguished and the line is back online.
In the central region, a fire broke out on the territory of a high-voltage substation due to equipment damage. The fire was extinguished by the SES units.
In the western region, a high-voltage overhead line connecting the power systems of Ukraine and Moldova was disconnected due to a thunderstorm. The line was quickly brought back online.
In Kyiv region, after the passage of a storm front, a high-voltage overhead line was switched off twice, which led to a blackout at several substations, household consumers and agriculture. The consumers have been reconnected.
POWER OUTAGES FOR CONSUMERS
Due to severe weather conditions, 374 settlements in Kyiv, Zakarpattia, Chernihiv, Sumy, Zhytomyr and Volyn regions were without electricity supply.
In total, 503 settlements remain without power due to hostilities and technical violations.
Power companies have supplied electricity to 27,849 consumers who were cut off as a result of hostilities.
SITUATION AT ZNPP
The water level in the cooling pond is 14.93 metres. This is enough to meet the plant’s needs.
IMPORT/EXPORT
Due to the heatwave and increased consumption in Europe, imports remain at a reduced level. It is planned to import 23,561 MWh from Romania, Slovakia, Poland, and Hungary, with a maximum capacity of 1,232 MW.
No exports are planned or expected.
