Situation in energy system on 31 August

Ministry of Energy of Ukraine, posted 31 August 2023 11:30

A 190 MW TPP power unit has been connected to the grid, and about 100,000 consumers in several regions are without power due to bad weather.

POWER GENERATION

A power unit at one of the TPPs with a capacity of 190 MW was connected to the grid after the overhaul. In total, 24 thermal generation units with a capacity of over 4,300 MW have been repaired or are under repair. This is more than 60% of the total.

Power engineers continue to prepare the power system for the heating season, which may be affected by russian attacks. A large-scale repair campaign is underway at thermal, hydro and nuclear generation facilities.

CONSEQUENCES OF BAD WEATHER

A powerful thunderstorm front with strong winds continues to move across the country, which has resulted in power outages in 263 settlements in the western and central regions. Most of them are in Lviv region, where more than 77,000 people in 152 settlements are without electricity. Power engineers are carrying out intensive repair work.

SITUATION IN THE FRONTLINE AREAS

Enemy terror continues in the frontline and border regions with russia. The night shelling damaged power grids in Pokrovsk district of Dnipropetrovsk region. About 200 consumers in the villages near Nikopol lost power. As of this morning, repairs are underway following approval from the State Emergency Service.

The recent shelling also damaged a 10 kV overhead line and cut off power to one settlement near Odesa. The repairs have now been completed and the consumers have been reconnected.

Some consumers in Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, Sumy, Kherson, Kharkiv and Chernihiv regions remain without power supply. Repair teams are working where the security situation allows.

CONSEQUENCES OF THE KAKHOVKA HPP DAM BLOW-UP

In Kherson, 1.5 kilometres of the 6 kV cable network was restored and several high-rise buildings in the Ostriv neighbourhood that were cut off after the flooding were powered. About 9,700 consumers are still without power in the city. Power engineers are working to restore the power supply, but repairs are slowed down by the shelling.

SITUATION AT THE ZNPP

There is a slight decrease in the water level in the ZNPP cooling pond. It is currently at 16.07 metres. This is sufficient to meet the needs of the plant.

EXPORT/IMPORT

Commercial electricity imports over the past day amounted to 2,058.00 MWh. There were no exports.
