  • Situation in energy system on 24 February
Ministry of Energy of Ukraine, posted 24 February 2024 10:39

Zaporizhzhia NPP remains powered by a single power line, almost 9,500 consumers in Kherson are without electricity due to night shelling

    Power generation and consumption

There is no shortage of electricity in the power system. Domestic generation is sufficient to meet the needs of consumers, and commercial imports and exports of electricity are planned.

A thermal power plant block is undergoing short-term repairs, while a thermal power plant unit has been put back into operation after the repairs. There are 13 TPP generating units in reserve to be used if necessary.

    Consequences of shelling

Kherson came under shelling at night, which resulted in the disconnection of a 150 kV overhead line. The substation was de-energised, leaving about 9,500 consumers without electricity.

Due to previous shelling and inadequate safety conditions for power engineers, the 330 kV line supplying the Zaporizhzhia NPP remains out of service. The plant is supplied by a single power line.

For the current day, electricity imports are forecast at 320 MWh, and exports to Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Moldova and Hungary are expected to reach 2,440 MWh.
