Situation in energy system on 21 September
Shelling damaged 330 kV substation in one of the regions, another TPP unit is reconnected to the grid
CONSEQUENCES OF SHELLING
The enemy has launched a massive attack on the country. There were hits to the energy infrastructure.
A 330 kV substation in one of the regions was damaged by shelling. As a result, several 110 kV substations lost power, leaving almost 49,000 consumers in 90 settlements without electricity. All consumers are currently supplied via backup lines, and restoration works are ongoing.
In Kyiv region, a 110 kV overhead line was damaged by enemy missile fire. This resulted in the shutdown of the 110 kV substation supplying power to the residents of Kyiv and the region. Almost 5,000 consumers in the capital and 1,000 in the region were cut off and were reconnected via backup lines in less than an hour. Repair work to restore the damaged line is ongoing.
POWER GENERATION
After scheduled repairs, the building of one of the TPP units resumed operation, adding 120 MW of capacity to the grid.
The electricity generated by Ukrainian power plants is sufficient to meet the needs of consumers.
Power engineers continue to prepare the power system for the heating season, which will take place in the face of russian attacks. A large-scale repair campaign is underway at thermal, hydro and nuclear generation facilities.
SITUATION IN THE FRONTLINE REGIONS
Enemy terror continues in the frontline and border regions with russia. In Donetsk region, a 110 kV line was damaged by shelling, which led to a blackout at a 110 kV substation. This left 19,000 customers in 7 settlements without electricity. Repair crews carried out repairs to the line and reconnected the consumers.
Some consumers in Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhzhia, Kharkiv, Kherson, Sumy and Chernihiv regions remain without power. Repair crews are working where the security situation allows.
CONSEQUENCES OF THE KAKHOVKA HPP DAM BLOW-UP
In Kherson, efforts are underway to restore power grids damaged by the flood. Over 800 grid access points have been reconnected over the past 24 hours. More than 4,000 consumers remain without power in the city. Power engineers are working to restore power supply, but repairs are slowed down by shelling.
SITUATION AT THE ZNPP
The water level in the ZNPP cooling pond remains unchanged. It is currently at 15.92 metres. This is sufficient to meet the needs of the plant.
EXPORT/IMPORT
Commercial electricity imports totalled 645.00 MWh over the past day. Exports to Slovakia totalled 1,422.00 MWh, and to Moldova – 1,556.00 MWh.
