  • Situation in energy system as of 13 May: due to significant damage to power facilities and electricity shortages, restrictions for industrial consumers are possible
Ministry of Energy of Ukraine, posted 13 May 2024 10:46

Situation in the power system as of 13 May: due to significant damage to power facilities and electricity shortages, restrictions are possible for industrial consumers; gas supply to 550 consumers was cut off due to shelling in Donetsk, Kharkiv and Sumy regions.

    GENERATION, TRANSMISSION, CONSUMPTION

Over the past day, the needs of consumers were covered by domestic generation, commercial imports and emergency supplies from the power systems of Poland, Romania and Slovakia. The total volume of emergency supply was less than 2% of daily electricity consumption.

Also yesterday, during the daytime, Ukraine provided emergency assistance to Poland by receiving surplus electricity from the country's power system.

In the southern regions, to prevent overloading of equipment at one of the high-voltage substations, the transmission system operator limited the production of electricity from renewable energy sources during the daytime.

To date, at Ukraine's request, emergency electricity has been supplied from Poland, Romania and Slovakia. Emergency assistance is also planned for the evening peak hours of electricity consumption. Also, due to a shortage of electricity in the evening, industrial consumers may be subject to restrictions.

    PLEASE CONSUME RESPONSIBLY!

Given the significant damage caused to the power grid, we ask consumers to reduce the use of energy-intensive appliances during peak hours (especially in the evening from 17:00 to 22:00).

Industry - to review production processes to reduce the load on the power system, as well as to use imports to the maximum extent possible to ensure that outages are avoided and to strengthen the stability of the power system.

    CONSEQUENCES OF SHELLING, TERRORISM

In Kharkiv region, gas pipelines were damaged by enemy shelling yesterday and 432 customers were disconnected from gas supply. In Donetsk region, 97 consumers were disconnected from gas supply due to hostilities, and 21 consumers in Sumy region.

Police officers received information about a bomb threat at a power facility. No suspicious items were found during the inspection.

    SITUATION AT ZNPP

The water level in the cooling pond has dropped to 15.34 metres. This is sufficient to meet the needs of the plant.

    IMPORT/EXPORT

For the current day, electricity imports are forecast at 19,484 MWh. No exports are expected.
