Minister of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources of Ukraine Svitlana Grynchuk and Ambassador of Turkey to Ukraine Mustafa Levent Bilgen discussed Türkiye's experience in waste management and the prospects for attracting Turkish investment in Ukraine.
According to Svitlana Grynchuk, Ukrainian environmentalists are also interested in Türkiye's experience in water management. Like Ukraine, Türkiye has uneven access to water resources for its population. The experience of water management in this country may be of particular interest to us in implementing the water supply programme for nine frontline regions.
At the meeting, the parties updated information on cooperation between our countries in the field of forestry, the implementation of Article 6 of the Paris Agreement and the implementation of Point 8 on environmental safety of Volodymyr Zelenskyy's Peace Formula. They also touched upon the issue of green energy in the process of Ukraine's post-war recovery.
"I thanked the Ambassador for the opportunity to familiarise our experts with Türkiye's experience in implementing the MRV and SST. This will help us avoid common mistakes in the implementation of such systems in Ukraine in the future. For example, Türkiye's MRV system has been in operation since 2015 and has more than 800 registered installations. As for the greenhouse gas emissions trading system, Türkiye is currently actively working on its launch in 2025. I am grateful to Ambassador of Turkey to Ukraine Mustafa Levent Bilgen for his efforts in building relations between our countries. I am confident that our best joint achievements will make a significant contribution to the post-war recovery of Ukraine," said Svitlana Grynchuk.
