Svitlana Grynchuk holds meeting with IMF mission: focus on preparations for heating season and EU integration reforms in energy sector

Minister of Energy Svitlana Grynchuk held a meeting with an IMF mission to discuss the current state of Ukraine’s energy system, preparations for the heating season, and progress on reforms towards EU integration.

The discussion also covered recent russian attacks on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure. Svitlana Grynchuk briefed partners on efforts to swiftly repair and restore facilities, as well as the needs for enhancing their protection.

“Despite all challenges, we continue to implement EU integration reforms in the energy sector,” Svitlana Grynchuk noted.

The participants reviewed the current status of each EU integration reform, including the integration of Ukraine’s energy market with the EU market, strengthening the independence of the National Energy and Utilities Regulatory Commission, and simplifying permitting procedures for renewable energy development. Notable progress has been acknowledged by partners.

The meeting also addressed reforms outlined in Ukraine Plan, particularly the continuation of corporate governance reforms in the energy sector.

“We agreed to maintain constant communication for rapid information exchange and ongoing consultations between our teams. So, we’re working together. I’m grateful to the International Monetary Fund team for their continued support of Ukraine. All developments and details in the energy sector will be discussed further during the next IMF negotiation mission,” Svitlana Grynchuk stated.
