Minister of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources Svitlana Grynchuk met with former EU Commissioner for the Environment, Oceans and Fisheries, MEP Virginijus Sinkevičius during her visit to Brussels to discuss the negotiation process, preparations for the Chapter 27 screening, the green recovery of Ukraine and other important topics.
"Virginijus Sinkevičius remains our loyal friend, he is rooting for Ukraine in the negotiation process and stands ready to help with his expertise along the way," said Svitlana Grynchuk.
The Minister spoke about the Ministry's preparations for the bilateral meeting between Ukraine and the European Commission on 16-20 June 2025: "We have already received an agenda and a questionnaire from the EU, and we are now actively working on preparations. Comprehensive and systematic work is underway to introduce norms of EU law in Ukraine. Next week, we will hold imitation sessions with the participation of international experts on Chapter 27, Environment and Climate Change."
According to her, the environmental component is one of the largest and most cross-cutting in the European integration process. It is a long way to go, requiring coordination and efforts of a wide range of stakeholders in Ukraine and the EU. Only in unity and with the support of EU member states will we be able to achieve our European goal.
"We agreed to keep in touch and stay tuned, as cooperation with the European Parliament brings Ukraine's European future closer. I am grateful to Mr Virginijus Sinkevičius for his support and assistance on this path," said Svitlana Grynchuk.
