Within the framework of a working visit to India First Vice Prime Minister/Minister of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine Stepan Kubiv met with Director General of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) Francis Gurry.
During the meeting key areas of the intellectual property reform in Ukraine were touched upon.
"Thanks to their high level of education, hard work and talent, Ukrainians create unique innovative solutions and products with high added value. Therefore, the reform of the intellectual property field is one of overriding priorities for the Government and the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade, " the First Vice Prime Minister noted.
Moreover, Stepan Kubiv added that in order to ensure effective work it is important to establish close cooperation with experts of the WIPO , in particular, concerning joint preparation of the National Strategy of Ukraine for the development of the intellectual property.
" Combining experience of experts of both Ministry of Economic Development and Trade and WIPO will allow to create a strategic roadmap for the field of intellectual property, which will become a blueprint for the development of high-tech industries in Ukraine," Stepan Kubiv emphasized.
The First Vice Prime Minister singled out further development of a network of technology and innovation support centers as well as further implementation of alternative dispute resolution procedures in the field of intellectual property as mechanisms for practical support for creative realization of Ukrainians.
Apart from that, in 2019, the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade is planning together with WIPO to hold Summer School on Intellectual Property, as well as to hold of the "Day of Ukraine" during the fifty-ninth series of meetings of the Assemblies of the Member States of WIPO.
