    Today, June 13, First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine, Minister of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine Stepan Kubiv met with Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Economic Development, Labour and Social Policies of Italy Luigi Di Maio.

    During the meeting  Stepan Kubiv emphasized the immutability of the course on European integration of Ukraine, deepening of trade and economic interaction with EU countries, in particular Italy.

    "More than 14 thousand Ukrainian companies export their products to the European Union. It also creates additional tools for multilateral engagement, for example, through the opportunities of the Pan-Euro-Mediterranean convention or cooperation under the China's Belt and Road Initiative. In this and other projects Ukraine and Italy unveil logistic and trading opportunities and prospects", Stepan Kubiv stressed.

    The First Deputy Prime Minister Stepan Kubiv also placed a special emphasis on strategic partnership between Ukraine and Italy and emphasized the future prospects of bilateral cooperation, in particular through the possibilities of the Ukrainian-Italian Council on economic, industrial and financial cooperation.

    "Italy is a strategically important trade partner for Ukraine. Last year, trade turnover between our countries amounted to $4.47 billion and increased by almost 14% compared with 2017.  Italian and Ukrainian business circles demonstrate mutual interest thus opportunities for cooperation in the field of renewable energy, agricultural engineering, processing industry, as well as development of the digital economy, innovations, and IT technologies should be heightened.  Renewal of the agreement on promotion and mutual protection of investments between Ukraine and Italy will contribute to this process", Stepan Kubiv stated.
