On August 28, First Deputy Prime Minister, Minister for Economic Development and Trade Stepan Kubiv and Humanitarian Coordinator and UNDP Resident Representative in Ukraine Osnat Lubrani chaired the fifth meeting of the Interagency Working Group on Coordination of Implementation and Monitoring of Sustainable Development Goals,
The results of Ukraine's progress in achieving the 17 Sustainable Development Goals approved by the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development aimed at balancing social, economic and environmental aspects of sustainable development were presented the meeting.
"Monitoring reports and the National Thematic Report are the first works to present the results of Ukraine's progress towards the Sustainable Development Goals. And the beginning, in my opinion, is extremely successful. Such results have been achieved due to the coordinated work of all ministries, UN organizations, experts, business environment on these projects which are a specific criteria of the progressive movement of Ukraine towards the Sustainable Development Goals", Stepan Kubiv stressed.
The monitoring report on Ukraine's Progress towards the Sustainable Development Goals 8 " Decent Work and Economic Growth in Ukraine " was prepared by the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade jointly with the State Statistics Service, Ministry of Social Policy, Ministry of Education and Science, Social Insurance Fund, and the civic organization "Institute of Green Economy" with the support of United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) and the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) in Ukraine.
"The monitoring report is a tool for objective assessment of what has been done and what needs to be done next. This year in July, we have already presented information on Ukraine's progress towards achieving the Decent Work and Economic Growth in Ukraine goal at the UN High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development. The continuation of our work will be the report of Ukraine which will be presented in 2020 at the UN General Assembly meeting in New York", Stepan Kubiv emphasized.
The First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine thanked all the United Nations organizations that provided comprehensive support to the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade and State Statistics Service and all ministries and agencies engaged in the work on the Sustainable Development Goals, the preparation of monitoring reports and the creation of Informational (Knowledge) platform.
