  • Stepan Kubiv signs Agreement with China on granting to Ukraine a $29.7 mn technical assistance

    April 11, First Deputy Prime Minister/ Minister of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine Stepan Kubiv signed an Agreement between the Government of Ukraine and the Government of China, under which Ukraine will be disbursed a free technical and economic assistance in the amount of 200 million Chinese yuan ($ 29.7 million). This is the largest amount of one-time free aid to Ukraine from China over the 27 years of Ukraine's independence.

    The funding of technical and economic assistance to Ukraine will be transferred by the Government of China to provide technical assistance in the form of special rescue vehicles and equipment for the needs of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine (SES of Ukraine).

    Under the Agreement, during 2019-2020, the SES will receive more than 50 units of equipment and machinery, in particular, crane trucks, track-type tractors, truck graders, fire trucks with aerial platforms and fire-engines with fire escape staircase for emergency and rescue operations.

    Moreover, the People's Republic of China will send experts to Ukraine to adjust the operation and technical maintenance of the equipment provided.

    The signed Intergovernmental Agreement also stipulates for the provision of equipment for simultaneous interpretation and conference system of the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade, as well as the implementation of other agreed Ukraine-China intergovernmental projects.

    It should be noted that the aforesaid technical assistance has been sought by the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade within the framework of the meeting of the Ukraine-China Subcommittee on trade and economic cooperation.
