Simplification of procedures for importing military goods will strengthen the Ukrainian defense sector, says Yuliia Svyrydenko
The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has expanded the list of defense companies that are authorized to import military goods for their own production and export military goods of their own production. The Government made the decision at a meeting on February 10.
"We are working for victory by strengthening the production potential of the domestic military-industrial complex. Several more Ukrainian companies have been given the opportunity to import components for weapons production without unnecessary intermediaries. Thus, this decision is aimed at liberalizing the market. It will also significantly speed up the process of manufacturing and supplying weapons to the frontline, which our defenders need so much now.
Of course, the production of weapons specifically for the needs of the Ukrainian army is a top priority. I think it is obvious to everyone: exporting military products today is only possible if the Ministry of Defense and the Armed Forces clearly state that there is no need for these types of products to protect Ukraine. But for the future, this decision opens up the possibility for Ukrainian manufacturers who already produce products according to NATO standards to integrate into the value chains of Western countries. And this is important because we are already creating a powerful cluster that should become a driving force for the recovery and intensive development of the economy after the victory," said Yuliia Svyrydenko, First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy of Ukraine.
The decision taken by the Government will facilitate the development and increase of production volumes of enterprises producing various types of weapons, including UAVs for the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Earlier, the Government exempted a number of military and dual-use goods from state export control. In particular, these include metal and non-metal armor plates, helmets, body armor, etc.
