Cooperation in defence industry and arms supplies: Denys Shmyhal holds talks with defence ministers of Canada and Slovenia

Minister of Defence of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal held discussions with Canada’s Defence Minister David McGuinty and Slovenia’s Defence Minister Borut Sajovic.

In particular, with his Canadian counterpart, Denys Shmyhal discussed ways to deepen bilateral cooperation in the defence-industrial complex.

“I expressed gratitude for the significant support – Canada has provided Ukraine with CAD 6.5 billion in military aid since the start of the full-scale war. I outlined our urgent needs and coordinated further cooperation, as well as the possibility of Canada joining the PURL mechanism,” said the Head of Ukraine’s Ministry of Defence.

He thanked the Canadian Government and people for their high level of support in the fight for freedom and a just peace.

In his conversation with Slovenia’s Defence Minister Borut Sajovic, Denys Shmyhal emphasised the need for long-term, stable, and timely supplies of weapons and ammunition to protect Ukraine and prevent the spread of war in Europe.

“Ukraine is interested in cooperation with Slovenia’s defence industry, both in joint production and in developing promising areas. I thanked Slovenia for its active participation in mechanisms and initiatives supporting Ukraine and for its solidarity with the Ukrainian people,” stressed Denys Shmyhal.
