Defence industry cooperation and SAFE programme implementation: Denys Shmyhal meets with Italian Ambassador to Ukraine

Minister of Defence of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal held a meeting with Italy’s Ambassador to Ukraine, Carlo Formosa.

The head of the Ministry of Defence expressed gratitude to Italy for its consistent support of Ukrainian defenders and highlighted the decision to transfer additional armoured vehicles to Ukrainian forces.

“We discussed steps to strengthen cooperation in the defence industry and launch major industrial projects. I invited Italian companies to join initiatives with Ukrainian manufacturers,” stated Denys Shmyhal.

In particular, Ukraine and Italy are exploring projects to enhance maritime security and protect Ukrainian ports.

“We also focused on the prospects of utilising support mechanisms, including the SAFE programme, to develop the defence industry in Europe. I thank Italy for its support and readiness to deepen cooperation for shared security,” concluded the Minister of Defence.
