Serhii Marchenko: Cooperation with the IMF will enable the Government to significantly cut the price of gas for the population
Due to cooperation with the International Monetary Fund and the disbursed tranche of $ 5 billion, Ukraine will be able to cover about 8% of the state budget deficit, as well as finance the payment of salaries, pensions, surcharges to doctors and additional payments to socially disadvantaged groups. This was announced by the Minister of Finance of Ukraine Serhii Marchenko during the Pravo Na Vladu (The Right to Power) program.
"I assumed the office 60 days ago and then we had a lot of problems. We had to solve these problems. Now, in May, we demonstrate 100 percent execution of the general fund of the state budget. And we are facing the future with optimism," said the Minister of Finance.
According to him, the IMF loan will not only have a positive impact on the country's economy, but also opens the door for Ukraine to receive macro-financial assistance from the European Commission, a loan from the World Bank, which apart from allowing to fulfill this year's budget will enable the country to reduce the burden on earnings of Ukrainians.
"Now there is every reason to believe that we have passed a difficult crisis stage in the economy. A market mechanism for gas price formation will be established. Now the price is more than UAH 4,000, while on the market the price is UAH 2,275. Thus, the price of gas during the heating season for the population will be reduced," summed up Serhii Marchenko.
