Sergii Koretskyi: The State must speed up identification of repatriated military and civilian dead

The State must speed up the identification of repatriated military and civilian remains by eliminating unnecessary delays and strengthening cooperation and information-sharing across agencies. This was emphasized by Prime Minister of Ukraine Sergii Koretskyi at a meeting with heads of the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and the Ministry of Defense.

"We went through the entire process in detail at the meeting with the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and the Ministry of Defense — from forensic examination to the steps that follow it. At every stage, coordination across agencies needs to improve so procedures move faster. I've instructed them to prepare a clear improvement plan within a week," the Prime Minister said.

Sergii Koretskyi noted that, in parallel, the Government continues to strengthen forensic examination capacity. Currently, 21 regional forensic bureaus under the Ministry of Health carry out this work. The 2027 draft budget allocates over ₴600 million, including funds to equip these bureaus with the necessary equipment.

"We must ensure that families receive accurate information as quickly as possible and are able to say a dignified farewell to their loved ones," Sergii Koretskyi said. "Eternal memory and glory to our fallen Heroes."
