Sergii Marchenko met with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Germany and KfW Director for Eastern Europe, Caucasus and Central Asia
October 7, 2021, the Minister of Finance of Ukraine Sergii Marchenko met with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federal Republic of Germany to Ukraine Ms. Anka Feldhusen and Director of the KfW for Eastern Europe, Caucasus, and Central Asia Olaf Zymelka.
The meeting was also attended by the Government Commissioner for Public Debt Management Yuriy Butsa, Deputy Minister of Finance of Ukraine for European Integration Yuriy Draganchuk, and KfW's Country Manager for Ukraine Kurt Strasser.
The Minister of Finance of Ukraine expressed gratitude to the German government, the Embassy of Germany in Ukraine and KfW for many years of cooperation and support of economic development.
The parties discussed the cooperation between the Government of Ukraine and KfW.
"We have intensified our cooperation thanks to the Agreement signed last year between the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine and the Government of the Federal Republic of Germany on financial cooperation. This Agreement is an international legal basis for our further cooperation in the field of finance and development policy", - Sergii Marchenko said.
In addition, the parties paid attention to Ukraine's cooperation with the IMF.
"We count on positive results of the program review. We hope that Ukraine will receive the second tranche under the current program already this year", - noted Sergii Marchenko.
The German side noted that the support of Ukraine from the International Monetary Fund and the European Union is a positive signal and confirmation of the unchangeable course of Ukraine in reforming the state.
Background
Agreement between the Government of Ukraine and the Government of the Federal Republic of Germany on financial cooperation was signed on December 17, 2020, ratified by the Parliament of Ukraine on June 15, 2021, entered into force on July 28, 2021. Within the framework of the Agreement, the list of investment projects with a total volume of EUR 214.55 million and international technical assistance projects with a total volume of EUR 38.9 million was created.
