  • Serhii Marchenko: The World Bank has once again confirmed its support for Ukraine in overcoming the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic

    Today, December 14, Ukraine and the IBRD have signed the Agreement on the Second Additional Financing, aimed at overcoming the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic, for the project "Modernization of the social support system of Ukraine".

    The Ministry of Finance, in cooperation with the Ministry of Social Policy, has made every effort to prepare the Agreement as soon as possible, and as a result, Ukraine will be able to attract a loan worth $ 300 million, $ 170 million out of the sum - by the end of this year.

    The Minister of Finance of Ukraine Serhii Marchenko thanked all participants of the negotiation process for constructive cooperation and noted the following: "Signing of the Agreement on the Second Additional Financing, aimed at overcoming the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic, for the project "Modernization of the social support system of Ukraine" is a logical end of the year, in which the World Bank has confirmed its readiness to provide rather efficient support aimed at combating the effects of the spread of COVID-19. The main goal is social assistance and social services for low-income families, as well as assistance to victims of the negative economic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic."

    This will be the second additional financing for the project "Modernization of the social support system of Ukraine", being implemented in Ukraine, with the total loan amount worth $750 million. The project aims to improve the performance of the social assistance and social services system in Ukraine for low-income families.
