Today, the Minister of Finance of Ukraine Sergii Marchenko held an online meeting with the Minister of Finance of Germany Christian Lindner.

The parties discussed the current economic situation in Ukraine, financial support from foreign partners and the potential exclusion of russia from the FATF and its inclusion on the Black List.

Sergii Marchenko thanked the German Minister of Finance for supporting Ukraine, in particular the recent decision to provide a grant of EUR 1 billion. These funds will partially finance the monthly budget needs of USD 5 billion, in particular, to meet the social and humanitarian needs of Ukraine. It is expected that the funds will be transferred through the administrative account of the IMF.  Working groups of the Ministries of Finance of Ukraine and Germany are already actively working on the preparation of the agreement.

“Currently, we see that Ukraine's economy is gradually recovering from the shock of the first two months of the war. I am grateful to you personally and to the Government of Germany for its support during this historically significant period for our country. We look forward to further effective cooperation with Germany, both in the financial sphere and on the sanctions front”, said the Minister of Finance of Ukraine.

During the conversation, Sergii Marchenko asked Christian Lindner to support Russia's exclusion from the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) and its inclusion in the FATF Black List for non-compliance with the organization's standards.  After all, Russia is undermining global efforts to prevent the financing of terrorism, the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction and money laundering.

Russia's exclusion from the FATF and its subsequent inclusion in the Black List will help end the war in Ukraine, and the Russian regime from circumventing international sanctions imposed in connection with the invasion of Ukraine.
