The sanctions policy against the aggressor country should be intensified, while the situations like the brazen attacks in the Sea of Azov - get a clear and rigid international response. Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman announced at a meeting with the Federal President of the Federal Republic of Germany Frank-Walter Steinmeier. The meeting was held within the framework of a working visit of the Head of Government to Germany.
"Germany is an important friend of Ukraine. We highly appraise Germany's assistance for Ukraine in the process of restoring the sovereignty and territorial integrity against the background of an armed confrontation with Russia", stressed Volodymyr Groysman.
In this regard, the parties touched upon the construction of the Nord Stream 2 Pipeline, which serves mostly a hybrid weapon against the EU, rather than an energy tool for the consumers. The Prime Minister stressed that there is no guarantee that Moscow would keep its promises. Russia has repeatedly shown off its proclivity for intimidation and applying energy tools of influence to achieve its political ambitions. Therefore, a transit route via Ukraine remains the only alternative in the matter of ensuring the energy independence of European countries.
"Ukrainian transit infrastructure is more reliable and cheaper than Russian bypass gas pipelines", emphasized Volodymyr Groysman.
As part of the negotiations, the sides also touched upon cooperation in the economic sphere and the Government's plan in the context of the reform of economy and the formation of an anti-corruption policy.
