Ukraine has unprecedented support from the OSCE. This was confirmed by OSCE Secretary General Helga Maria Schmid at a meeting with Minister of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources of Ukraine Ruslan Strilets during the Conference on Climate Change.
The Secretary General assured that the OSCE would continue to assist Ukraine not only in conducting research and assessing environmental damage caused by russians. The Organisation will provide Ukraine with expert assistance in reforming environmental finance, developing ecosystem services and implementing waste management reform.
“I am confident that in addition to more practical assistance, the research carried out by the OSCE will continue. This will allow us to get a full picture of the environmental situation,” said Ruslan Strilets.
The Minister invited the OSCE Secretary General to attend the opening of the Climate Office in Kyiv and to participate in the creation of an international platform for the recognition of ecocide in European legislation.
