  • Ruslan Slobodian: Development of distributed generation will have a positive impact on the operation of the power system

Currently, Ukraine is focusing on the development of distributed generation of any capacity and using all available resources. This applies to both businesses and ordinary citizens. This was stated by Ruslan Slobodian, Head of the State Inspectorate for Energy Supervision of Ukraine, during the United News telethon.

He also stressed that the power system had lost more than 9 GW of generating capacity due to massive enemy missile and drone attacks. “Of course, the damaged equipment needs to be repaired. But at the same time, we need to develop distributed generation using all possible energy resources. In particular, solar, wind, hydropower, waste energy, biomass, etc. In addition, it will be difficult for the enemy to damage thousands of units of low-capacity generating equipment, unlike large facilities,” he emphasised.

Ruslan Slobodian noted that citizens could take care of their own energy independence and thus prepare for the winter. The Government has done everything possible to remove bureaucratic obstacles to the development of distributed generation by businesses and citizens.

According to him, Ukraine is currently experiencing a high demand for solar panels, generators, and storage units, the installation of which, combined with more rational use of electricity, will have a positive impact on the operation of the power system and may reduce the use of blackout schedules.
