Development of Unity Hubs and creation of conditions for safe and voluntary return of Ukrainians: Federal Ministry of the Interior of Austria and Ministry of National Unity of Ukraine agreed to deepen their partnership

The meeting between Deputy Prime Minister — Minister of  National Unity of Ukraine Oleksiy Chernyshov and Federal Minister of the Interior of the Republic of Austria Gerhard Karner and the joint work of ministries’ teams resulted in an agreement on further steps. This was confirmed in a joint statement issued by both sides.

The Austrian Ministry of the Interior acknowledges and supports the initiative of Ukraine’s Ministry of National Unity to establish Unity Hubs as innovative platforms for fostering dialogue, resilience, and social cohesion. In this context, both sides recognize the importance of such initiatives in advancing inclusive recovery and sustainable development.

The parties also highlight the importance of creating favourable conditions for the safe, and dignified voluntary return and reintegration of displaced persons to Ukraine. In this regard, both sides reaffirm their intention to explore opportunities for joint efforts, including through the framework of Unity Hubs, to support returnees with access to services, information, and community-based support structures.

Both parties look forward to continued fruitful cooperation and reaffirm their shared commitment to European values, peace, and solidarity.
