Needs and challenges in the health sector were addressed during a meeting in Kyiv by Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal and the WHO Regional Director for Europe Hans Kluge. The event was also attended by Minister of Health of Ukraine Viktor Liashko.

Denys Shmyhal noted that the support of the medical sphere in wartime remains one of the main priorities of the Government. In particular, the Government together with the WHO is closely working to provide Ukrainian hospitals with ambulances and equipment.

According to the Prime Minister, another key task is to provide medical institutions with as much power equipment as possible. The Head of Government expressed hope that the WHO would actively join this process. 

The parties also discussed the development of disaster medicine, mental health, rehabilitation and prosthetics in Ukraine. In addition, they touched upon the issues of expanding medical services for patients in the war-affected regions, particularly in Kherson region, as well as the restoration of the medical system in the liberated territories.
