The Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal congratulated and introduced the members of the newly established Council for Economic Development of Ukraine and outlined the purpose of the functioning of the Council, its main tasks and format of cooperation with the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, central executive bodies, independent think tanks and civil society institutions.

"Currently, the main challenges facing the Government are the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic and the global economic crisis, which will inevitably affect Ukraine's economy. Therefore, today the Government focuses on the implementation of rapid and effective measures in the economic sphere, in order to reduce the negative impact on Ukrainian business. I expect from the Council concrete and effective proposals in the field of economic development, which will support Ukrainian entrepreneurs in the short term and outline areas of economic growth in the short and long term amid the global economic recession and possible protectionist measures by Ukraine's trading partners," the Head of Government stressed.

For his part, the representative of the Center for Economic Affairs Kyrylo Kryvolap presented a detailed model of cooperation of the Council with independent think tanks, experts, donors and outlined the key problems in the economic sphere that need to be addressed as a matter of priority.
