The phasing out of quarantine restrictions will begin in May. The Government is preparing an appropriate strategy, which will be presented in the coming days.

Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal announced this today, April 10, in the program "Svoboda Slova (Freedom of Speech) of Savik Shuster" on the Ukraine TV channel.

The Head of Government again emphasized that Ukraine cannot afford to stay at home for two or three months. However, the country is currently facing extremely difficult and serious challenges. And none is capable of predicting the future right now. At that, the essential thing now is to overcome and contain the coronavirus.

"What I want to highlight here is that the decision to relax quarantine will be made on the basis of the dynamics on the number of people who have contracted the coronavirus", said Denys Shmyhal.

According to him, only given the dynamics to decline, the State will trigger the process of easing quarantine measures, but under new social living standards. The Government is now actually working around the clock on the mentioned strategy.

“In May, Ukraine has to get back to work. Under what conditions, with what updated social standards, in what timeframes – all those are the issues on which the Government is working together with analysts,” said Denys Shmyhal.

The PM told the plan contained the completion of the 2019/2020 academic year, the resumption of the public transport operation, but under the new rules, free access to recreation areas and more. However, the facemask wearing regime will be preserved.

Meanwhile, the Head of Government announced some of the projects the Cabinet of Ministers was currently engaged in. This is support for vulnerable groups, unemployment assistance, support for small and medium-sized businesses. In particular, repayment holidays, refinancing loans and more.

Denys Shmyhal stressed that following the removal of quarantine restrictions, the Government would be launching a program of creating 500,000 jobs.

“It is critical now to support people who have lost their jobs. Over 320,000 unemployed have been registered now in Ukraine. After the quarantine was announced - from 4,000 to 5,000 such people are registered daily,” accentuated Denys Shmyhal.

“We urge everyone to register as much as possible at the employment centers. We will appeal to the Parliament to vote in favor of the changes to the laws, thereby allowing to support these people,” the Head of Government said.

Besides, the Prime Minister added that the Government was developing a package of programs to support the vulnerable groups of society. But for their implementation changes to the State Budget are required.

Denys Shmyhal thanked the MPs for their cooperation and urged them to cast aside their political ambitions and to vote in support of the document on Monday.
