
Parliament endorses candidacies submitted by the Government for a post of Minister of Finance and Minister for Veterans’ Affairs
The Verkhovna Rada has supported the proposal of the Prime Minister of Ukraine to approint Oksana Markarova as Minister of Finance, as well as to appoint a lawmaker Iryna Friz as the Minister of Ukraine for Veterans’ Affairs. A total of 242 MPs and 270 MPs respectively voted for these decisions.
At the same time, the Parliament endorsed the proposal to dismiss Taras Kutovy from the post of Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine at his own request by 257 votes.
Commenting on the decision, the Head of Government noted that he took advantage of his right to submit candidatures for Ministers following consultations with the parliamentary coalition and guided by the rules of legislation. According to him, the sphere of work with veterans is extremely important. And it is essential to start the work as soon as possible.
"I also submitted a proposal for long-awaited appointment of the Minister of Finance. The financial management of a large country which has a population of 45 million requires extraordinary skills. And Oksana Markarova has these skills ", Volodymyr Groysman underscored.
