Ministry of Economy, Environment and Agriculture: PrivatBank and IFC join forces to support Ukrainian businesses
Today, the International Finance Corporation (IFC) and PrivatBank signed a USD 100 million Risk-Sharing Facility agreement and a USD 20 million Trade Finance Guarantee Facility agreement.
The USD 100 million Risk-Sharing Facility will expand lending to micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) across various sectors, including agribusiness, manufacturing, and logistics, with a particular focus on women-owned businesses. The initiative is supported by the governments of France and the Netherlands.
PrivatBank has also joined IFC’s Global Trade Finance Program (GTFP), which helps local banks expand trade finance by providing payment guarantees and managing payment risks. These steps aim to bolster the recovery and resilience of Ukraine’s private sector.
Under the agreement, IFC will provide PrivatBank with a USD 20 million trade finance guarantee facility, enabling the bank to finance more companies engaged in import and export activities, expand partnerships with international banks, and support Ukrainian businesses in accessing new global markets. As Ukrainian enterprises increasingly expand abroad, this tool will be key to accelerating their growth.
“We greatly value the consistent and stable cooperation with IFC, which provides critical support to Ukrainian businesses, enabling the economy to remain resilient and grow despite numerous wartime challenges. MSMEs remain a cornerstone of Ukraine’s economy, supporting livelihoods across the country, including in frontline regions. Ensuring MSMEs have access to the financing needed for growth is a key government priority,” said Deputy Minister of Economy, Environment and Agriculture Pavlo Kartashov.
