Prozorro.Sale will become the main platform for the sale of seized russian assets: Yuliia Svyrydenko

Ministry of Economy of Ukraine, posted 30 June 2023 20:05

Sanctioned russian assets in Ukraine will be sold through Prozorro.Sale online auctions, and the money will be used to deal with the consequences of russian aggression and to restore the economy. This was stated by Yuliia Svyrydenko, First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy of Ukraine, at the event “Five years of small-scale privatisation reform: from the first auction to UAH 14 billion in budgets”.

“Prozorro.Sale will become the main platform for the sale of seized russian assets. This is an extremely important area of development of the small-scale privatisation reform. It is not only about money, but also about the responsibility that should be borne by the russian companies that financed the crimes committed by the russian army in Ukraine,” said Yuliia Svyrydenko.

Yuliia Svyrydenko also said that the Ukrainian Government was working on implementing large-scale privatisation.

According to the Minister of Economy, the reform of small-scale privatisation is extremely relevant and necessary during a full-scale war. This is evidenced by the interest of companies in online auctions on Prozorro.Sale. During the full-scale war alone, Ukraine earned UAH 2.8 billion from the sale of small-scale privatisation assets.

In total, UAH 14 billion has been added to the budgets of various levels during the five years of reform. Nearly 5,000 unused state and municipal facilities have been sold. In their place, entrepreneurs have opened new facilities such as hotels, cafes and production plants, creating jobs and paying taxes.

Yuliia Svyrydenko also said that one of the first russian assets to be sold through Prozorro.Sale could be the well-known Ocean Plaza shopping centre in Kyiv. Until recently, two-thirds of its shares were owned by russian oligarchs, including Arkady Rotenberg and his son Igor. In early June, the Government transferred them to the State Property Fund.

The State Property Fund has already re-registered corporate rights with the state. Experts are now making an inventory and updating the statutory documents.
