Interim Results of 2018/2019 Agrarian Season
Ukraine has proved to be a positive exception among the major grain producers, as the aftereffect of weather turbulence during the harvest season hasn’t had a severe impact. This was stated by the First Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food Maxym Martyniuk at the meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine on September 19.
"Today, we have all the necessary conditions to increase the general forecast of grain crops in 2018/2019 marketing year up to 63.1 million tons. The volume of wheat production in this season makes up 24.2 million tons, which is quite sufficient to satisfy both domestic needs and the demand for foreign markets", stressed Maxym Martyniuk.
He added that the forecast for grain exports in 2018/2019 marketing year was raised to 42 million tons. The estimated annual export volume of grain, as defined in the Memorandum between the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and the participants in the grain market, amounts to 8 million tons of food-grade wheat and 8 million tons of fodder.
As was reported that the winter crops sowing campaign is underway in Ukraine. The availability of fuel and lubricants and seeds makes up 100%. Provision with fertilizers makes up 73%, but there is a tendency towards increasing stocks.
Agrarians have sowed 1.1 million hectares of winter grain crops (16%), with an estimated area of 7.2 million hectares. In addition, winter rape was sown on 882 thousand hectares (99%) with an estimated area of 888 thousand hectares.
