The implementation of infrastructure projects, in particular in the railroad and road transportation sectors, should remain among the firm priorities in the cooperation between Ukraine and Poland. This topic was raised at a meeting between the Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal and the Prime Minister of the Republic of Poland Mateusz Morawiecki.

The Head of the Ukrainian Government stressed that one of the main tasks of the bilateral partnership is the integration of Ukraine's road infrastructure with the EU transport corridors.

"At the initiative of the Presidents of Ukraine and Poland, we have launched a dialogue on the connection of Kyiv and Warsaw by high-speed railway. Reconstruction, modernization and technical re-equipment of five checkpoints on the Ukrainian-Polish border have also begun," Denys Shmyhal said.

The parties also discussed the construction of new checkpoints within the EU Flagship Initiatives for Ukraine program, aimed at attracting more than EUR 6 billion in investment. The Head of the Ukrainian Government expressed hope that Poland would actively join these projects.

Denys Shmyhal also noted that Ukraine was interested in launching negotiations on preparations for the conclusion of the Agreement on Liberalization of International Transit Freight Transportation between Ukraine and the EU.

"The Ukrainian and Polish parties agreed the day before to significantly increase the number of permits for international freight transportation. And also on the abolition of restrictions on the transit of freight cars via Ukraine’s territory to Poland by rail," said the Prime Minister of Ukraine.

According to Denys Shmyhal, among other things, it is planned to revise the provisions of the Agreement between the Government of Ukraine and the Government of the Republic of Poland on international road transport.

The Prime Minister of Ukraine also reaffirmed readiness for further cooperation with Poland within the framework of the Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation.

At the end of the meeting, Denys Shmyhal thanked Mateusz Morawiecki for Poland's support and cooperation with Ukraine.
