From May 1, 2021, companies will launch an annual gas product, thereby allowing to preserve the price of gas unchanged during the year. Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal announced during a Gov’t session on April 28.
"For most Ukrainians, this price will be a little under UAH 8 per cubic meter. In autumn and winter, this will protect consumers from sharp price hikes, because it is forbidden to raise the fixed prices," stressed Denys Shmyhal.
Meanwhile, according to the Prime Minister, the Government expects that gas suppliers can reduce the prices of their annual products in summer when the price of gas on the market will traditionally fall.
In addition, the Head of Government noted that the price of electricity for the population will remain unchanged - UAH 1.68 per kW/h. The Cabinet of Ministers extended the PSO (public service obligations) mechanism until June 30.
"The new rules also stipulate that the state-owned companies Energoatom and Ukrhydroenergo will sell electricity directly to universal service providers under bilateral agreements, without an intermediary in the shape of SE Guaranteed Buyer," the Prime Minister said.
