    The Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal together with the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy, First Lady Olena Zelenska and the Minister of Youth and Sports Vadym Huttsait met with the athletes of the national team of Ukraine of the ХVI Summer Paralympic Games in Tokyo.

    The President of Ukraine awarded the Paralympic athletes with state awards, in particular, delivered the title of Hero of Ukraine to swimmer Maksym Krypak. The Head of Government also took part in the award ceremony for the winners of the Games.

    "Thanks to your professionalism, skill, endurance and indomitable strength of spirit, the whole of Ukraine had the opportunity to hear the national anthem and watch the Ukrainian flag rise every day. On behalf of the Government, I thank the entire Ukrainian Paralympic team for their courage and indomitable spirit. I believe that the whole world will repeatedly applaud the bright victories of Ukrainian Paralympians in world sports arenas," Denys Shmyhal congratulated the Paralympic Games winners.

    The ХVI Summer Paralympic Games took place in Tokyo (Japan) from August 24 to September 5 this year. The Ukrainian national team ranked sixth in the team medal count chart, winning 98 medals: 24 gold, 47 silver and 27 bronze. Ukrainian athletes set 26 records in four sports: swimming, athletics, shooting, rowing.
