The situation in the energy sector today is absolutely stable and controlled. This was stated by Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal following a meeting of the Energy Coordination Headquarters, which took place on December 17 with the participation of President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

The meeting gathered together representatives of the Government, the President's Office, the leadership of the Ministry of Energy, the Ministry of Infrastructure, Ukrenergo, Naftogaz.

“The Cabinet of Ministers and the Ministry of Energy coordinated their activities with Ukrenergo and the National Energy and Utilities Regulatory Commission. Work is underway on the supply of coal to the warehouses of separate CHPs and TPPs. The Ministry of Energy and the Cabinet of Ministers have prepared special support services for Luhansk TPP, two CHPs and another thermal power plant. A number of measures and an additional service for working on gas have been developed for them,” said Denys Shmyhal.

According to the Prime Minister, the National Energy and Utilities Regulatory Commission (NEURC) should decide on the introduction of an additional service so that the price of gas for Luhansk TPP is fair, as there is no physical possibility to supply coal to this station.

The Head of Government added that other risks of the heating season were also considered at the meeting. According to him, today Ukraine has contracted coal supplies: its domestic production and imports, which amount to more than 2 million tons per month. At the same time, coal combustion will amount to 1.7 to 1.9 million tons per month.

Denys Shmyhal assured that all Ukrainians will be provided with heating - the Government has done everything necessary for this.
