The realization of the energy project of Russia's Gazprom for the construction of the North Stream 2 pipeline will lead to the full Europe’s dependence on the Kremlin. This was stated by Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman in an interview with the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung,
He emphasized that the pressure of the global community could force Moscow to make concessions and to promise transit of gas through territory of Ukraine in exchange for the launch of the Nord Stream 2.
"However, there is no guarantee that Russia will keep its promises. In my opinion, Russia can resort to subterfuge in order to implement this project", Volodymyr Groysman said. Realization of the Nord Stream 2 is a total dependence on Russia".
The Prime Minister thanked the Government of Germany and, in particular, the Chancellor of Germany Angela Merkel for their support and their position in the war led by the Russian Federation against Ukraine.
"And as an alternative (to the Nord Stream ), we are offering our European partners to jointly manage our transit lines. They are reliable. We have unique storage facilities", the Prime Minister stressed.
In this context, he drew attention to the fact that the situation in the Sea of Azov, where the international ships are constantly being detained, is another proof of the illegal intentions of the aggressor. "This is another element of the hybrid war that Russia is conducting not only against Ukraine, but against the entire democratic world. The blockade of foreign merchant ships that enter our ports is, in my opinion, malicious action. This is a serious signal to the world, which requires a tough response from the international community. We are responding to this by diplomatic and legal instruments, as well as by strengthening our defense capability", the Prime Minister noted.
