During a regular meeting on December 16, the Government has adopted a number of decisions aimed at supporting and strengthening the capacity of the medical system.
In particular, the Cabinet of Ministers supported a resolution simplifying the import to Ukraine of medicines to cure COVID-19.
"This, in turn, will increase the access of hospitals to medicines and medical devices used to fight the coronavirus disease," said Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal during the meeting.
Apart from that, a separate decision was adopted to expand the list of goods imported into Ukraine and exempt from VAT.
"We are talking about test systems and laboratory diagnostic equipment. This step is primarily aimed at strengthening the capacity of Ukrainian laboratories, which will thus increase the number of conducted tests," said the Prime Minister.
In addition, the Government adopted a decision to improve and optimize the work of emergency medical services. According to the Prime Minister, he proposes to introduce additional criteria for prioritization when receiving a calling for emergency services provision.
"Depending on the patient's condition, emergency calls will be divided into critical, emergency, non-emergency and secondary. This will allow for reducing the mortality rate, as priority is set for patients with critical condition," said Denys Shmyhal.
According to the Head of Government, the standard of the arrival of medical brigades in this case should be 10 minutes from the moment of receipt of the request by dispatcher.
