On November 28, in Kyiv, Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal met with Foreign Ministers of Estonia Urmas Reinsalu, Iceland Thórdís Gylfadóttir, Latvia Edgars Rinkēvičs, Lithuania Gabrielius Landsbergis, Norway Anniken Huitfeldt, Finland Pekka Haavisto and Sweden Tobias Billström.
The parties discussed the issues of supporting Ukraine with weapons and finance. In particular, Denys Shmyhal stressed that the key priority is the supply of air defense and missile defense systems to our country.
The Head of Ukrainian Government and the Foreign Ministers of the partner countries also discussed strengthening of sanctions against russia. The Prime Minister of Ukraine expressed hope that the 9th sanctions package would include a complete disconnection of russian banks from the SWIFT system, a ban on entry to the European Union for citizens of the terrorist state of russia and restrictions on russian energy resources.
“The key task remains to limit russia’s excessive profits and introduce restrictions on oil and gas with appropriate price caps. We must work to reduce russia’s capacity in the war it has unleashed,” Denys Shmyhal emphasized.
The parties paid significant attention to the challenges in the energy sector of Ukraine, given the continuous shelling of the energy infrastructure by russia. The Prime Minister of Ukraine thanked the Nordic and Baltic countries for the supply of energy equipment: “This support helps Ukrainians to remain unbreakable and continue the fight against the barbaric russian aggression.”
Among other issues, the parties touched upon the demilitarization of Zaporizhzhya NPP and the work of grain corridors. Denys Shmyhal thanked the partners for supporting the Grain from Ukraine initiative of the President of Ukraine.
