Ukraine is well-connected with the world, and we have every opportunity to develop the infrastructure and compete with our neighbors in logistics and quality of transport services. Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman said during the regular meeting of the Strategic Committee of the Government. Among other things, it was devoted to issues of long-term transport development, in particular, port infrastructure and aviation industry.
Government officials considered the basics of Ukraine's Aviation Strategy for the period up to 2030 and the Strategy of Development of Sea Ports of Ukraine for the period up to 2038. The implementation of these documents will ensure not only the development of ports directly, but also provide creating new jobs, updating cargo handling technologies and increasing passenger traffic. Thus, according to the forecast of the Ministry of Infrastructure, implementation of, for example, the Aviation Strategy will allow an increase in passenger traffic up to 80 million passengers a year already in 2030.
"It is critical for us to ensure the growth of the economy and to offer high-quality transport services. It is the national economy. It is important that strategies are predictable and long-term. We need a clear answer how we will develop airports, ports infrastructure and dominate as a state that is qualitatively connected with the world - from the point of view of logistics and services", said Volodymyr Groysman. "We truly demonstrate a growing trend, and we should accelerate this growth."
The Head of Government also drew attention to the fact that the reform of the Customs Service introduced by the Government could also play in favor of infrastructure development. If there is the possibility of the fast clearance of goods, this will become the undisputed competitive advantage of the state, assures the Head of Government.
Similarly, the involvement of local authorities in port development projects, including airports, could be positive. "We should increase internal connection within our country by means of domestic flights", emphasized Volodymyr Groysman.
