Denys Shmyhal: Progress in implementing the Association Agreement for the year has grown to 61%
The Cabinet of Ministers at its meeting on December 23 approved a series of documents that systematically bring Ukraine closer to integration into European markets and implementation of the best practices of the European Union, announced Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal.
According to the PM, the overall progress in the implementation of the Association Agreement for 2021 has already increased to 61%.
"This year we have managed to accomplish a lot in the field of European integration. A substantive dialogue has been launched on the renewal of customs tariffs to improve the access of Ukrainian goods to European markets. This year we also intensified cooperation on the implementation of the European Green Deal in Ukraine," Denys Shmyhal underscored.
According to the Prime Minister, a total of 37 European integration draft laws have been approved this year in various versions. The Government also endorsed 51 acts aimed at implementing the Association Agreement.
In the course of the session, the Government, in particular, amended the composition of the Сommission on implementation of the Association Agreement. The Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada will henceforth co-chair the Сommission together with the Prime Minister, and the Deputy Head of the Office of the President will become the Deputy Chairman of the Commission together with the Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration.
"This will enable all the highest authorities to systematically pool efforts and demonstrate that for our team and for our country, moving to Europe is a defining vector of foreign and domestic policy," Denys Shmyhal underscored.
