During a working trip to Cherkasy region on August 6, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal got acquainted with the work of the Vaccination Center. The Head of Government was accompanied by Deputy Head of the Office of the President Kyrylo Tymoshenko, Minister of Infrastructure Oleksandr Kubrakov and Head of Cherkasy Regional State Administration Oleksandr Skichko.
The Prime Minister stressed that the common task of public authorities is to develop herd immunity, as immunization is the only way to avoid new losses.
"It is critical to constantly branch out the system of places for vaccination to make it as convenient as possible for residents, to open vaccination points in at least each area. Regional authorities should work more closely with local communities to organize transportation of residents from remote villages to vaccination centers," stressed Denys Shmyhal.
The Prime Minister was told that currently there are 30 vaccination centers, 95 vaccination points and 25 mobile immunization teams in Cherkasy region.
Deputy Head of the Office of the President Kyrylo Tymoshenko noted that this Monday the heads of the regions had been tasked to visit the regional and district centers of mass vaccination during the week.
"Many people in the districts are unaware of the existence of mass vaccination centers. The visit of the head of the region will help inform the population and provide additional resources to increase the number of vaccinations," Kyrylo Tymoshenko said.
The Head of Cherkasy Regional State Administration Oleksandr Skichko noted that Cherkasy region ranks 4th among the regions in terms of the vaccination growth rate.
"It encourages us to work and demonstrate progress. Now we actively communicate with communities, provide comfortable conditions for those who want to be immunized, and raise awareness about the importance of creating herd immunity. It's summer, many have forgotten about COVID-19, but we must prevent a new wave of coronavirus. That is why now is a hot time for vaccination," Oleksandr Skichko said.
Cherkasy Regional Vaccination Center is the largest in the region with all 7 mobile medical teams providing COVID-19 vaccinated daily. CoronaVac, Pfizer and Moderna vaccines are used for vaccinations. In total, since its opening (July 22, 2021), 1,574 vaccinations have been performed at Cherkasy Regional Vaccination Center.
