Prime Minister at a meeting with OECD Secretary-General called on the organization to contribute to the development of Ukraine
Reconstruction of Ukraine according to the best world standards was discussed during a meeting in Washington between the Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal and the Secretary-General of the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) Mathias Cormann.
The Head of Government informed the OECD Secretary-General about the establishment of a recovery plan and fund in Ukraine. Denys Shmyhal stressed that Ukraine aims to change the economic model based on the best world practices. According to him, this goal is based on the principles promoted by the Ukrainian people: the European future, a transparent state and an open economy.
"Ukrainians are fighting for freedom and the future of civilization in the European Union. Therefore, it is important for us to use OECD best practices and implement them in Ukraine in the near future. We praise the intention to open an OECD regional office in Kyiv, which is a great opportunity to strengthen and accelerate our cooperation, "said Denys Shmyhal.
The Prime Minister also stressed that the green economy is a basic principle of Ukraine’s new economic model.
"russia has destroyed and continues to destroy our infrastructure. There is no point in returning to the old models, so we intend to restore it according to modern principles and the latest technologies, "the Prime Minister stressed.
According to the Head of the Ukrainian government, the third principle is the best standards of corporate governance. The PM noted that Ukraine had begun this reform, but the war had made its adjustments.
"We will look for approaches that will make corporatization even more effective. And in this matter, we count on the active support of the OECD, " Denys Shmyhal underscored.
OECD Secretary-General Mathias Cormann, for his part, expressed strong support for Ukrainians in the fight for their democratic future and said the OECD wants to help rebuild Ukraine.
