The financial support of Ukraine was tackled by Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal and the President of the World Bank Group David Malpass.
The parties touched upon the issues of the bank's participation in the assessment of the losses caused by the russian aggression, in the preparation of the plan for the reconstruction of our state and the attraction of funds for these needs. The conversation also revolved around the issue of supporting people in the affected areas of our state.
"Ukraine is a responsible state. We have a stable macroeconomic situation and continue to meet our financial obligations. However, russian aggression costs us dearly every day. We need financial assistance to support our people who have suffered from russia's actions, "said the Prime Minister of Ukraine.
Denys Shmyhal praised the support of the President of the World Bank Group, who has been actively helping Ukraine since the first days of the russian invasion.
"Thanks to the help of partners, including the United States, we will definitely win," DenysShmyhal said.
During the meeting between the Prime Minister and the President of the World Bank Group, an agreement was reached to provide Ukraine with a grant of EUR 88.5 million from the Trust Fund for Development Policy in the field of economic recovery. The document was signed by the Minister of Finance of Ukraine Serhii Marchenko and Dr. Arup Banerji, the World Bank Regional Country Director for Eastern Europe (Belarus, Moldova and Ukraine).
