All gas supply companies should present their annual products to the population this spring. Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal emphasized during the regular meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers on January 20.
Denys Shmyhal stressed that the Government is engaged in vigorous activities to develop fair rules and mechanisms in the gas market. He also instructed the Ministry of Energy, the Ministry of Economic Development, Trade and Agriculture, the Ministry of Social Policy in synergy with the National Energy and Utilities Regulatory Commission (NEURC) and the Antimonopoly Committee to prepare long-term instruments to balance the natural gas market by the end of the month.
During the session, the Prime Minister also welcomed the decision of the NEURC to limit the maximum gas distribution tariff to UAH 1.79 per cubic meter. In his opinion, this is the right decision that will allow for the reduction of the connection fee for a number of gas utility companies.
"The Government, together with people's deputies, is also preparing a bill that will allow to level in average within the country the distribution tariff to make it fairer," said Denys Shmyhal.
The Prime Minister also noted that the Antimonopoly Committee had opened 6 cases against utility monopolies-gas providers, which, according to him, had unfairly raised prices for residential consumers. He expressed hope that the AMCU would inspect other companies and bring the case to an end with the relevant decisions.
In addition, the Prime Minister told that the Ministry of Social Policy and the Ministry of Energy had already developed decisions on compensation for people who had installed electric heating systems.
"We are now concluding our discussion and will adopt it in the near future. People who have installed electric heaters will receive monetized compensation," the Prime Minister promised.
